Transforming its overall digital ecosystem and enabling multiple services (click to brick) across individual sites. In addition, enhancing the CX journeys. This will significantly enhance the technology, data and digital footprint of each of the 4 business lines (customer facing UX and employee facing UI) and digitally enable cross-selling to be significantly raised.
This ambitious plan has identified a need for a new Data Engineer reporting to the Head of Insight. The role is to align the system architecture, technical infrastructure and processes through the selective deployment of technology to support digital transformation as well as the day to day tech stack and daily operations. This role is suited to someone with a strong background in enterprise data warehouse construction and maintenance where close collaboration with stakeholders was key.
Key Responsibilities
- Development and maintenance of the Group’s data platforms under your ownership
- Refine and improve current structures for increased efficiency
- Key contributor to the design and development of a new enterprise data platform
- Reverse engineering legacy business logic and converting to readily accepted standards
- Ensure the data platform contains complete and accurate data through the provision of data management processes
- Support the Insight Analyst by providing data in an easy-to-consume format
- Work with suppliers to understand third party product schemas and document where appropriate
- Recommend efficiencies through the provision of new technologies or better process
Key Skills
- Excellent SQL language skills – in querying, manipulating and creating data
- Experience in the development and maintenance of enterprise data platforms – both on premise and in the cloud
- Confident working to tight and conflicted deadlines
- Strong stakeholder management skills to gather and interpret requirements from both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Strong understanding of data architecture principles – to document, develop and explain
- Appreciation for the importance of data management processes and the ability to embed these
- Knowledge of methodologies such as Kimball
- Keen eye for detail to spot erroneous data issues and flag to the business
- Capability to build a suite of monitoring outputs to maintain an enterprise data platform
Desirable
- Experience of statistical methodologies – such as Python and R
- Azure skills – Azure Fundamentals certification or equivalent
- Power Platform exposure
- Hybrid working with (mandatory) 3 days in the business office – Birmingham
